The Rev. Nan Doerr became rector of Church of the Redeemer in July 2006. She graduated from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in 2000 with a Masters of Divinity and was ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church in 2001. Before coming to Redeemer she served as an assistant rector at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Huntsville, Texas, where her primary assignment was campus ministry to Sam Houston State University. Nan brings to Redeemer a deep love for Jesus, a pastor's heart, organizational skills, and a penchant for college-age adults and for youth, among other gifts. Her background is varied and diverse. With a bachelor's degree in Music Education and a teaching certification in mathematics, she has been a high school band director, a police officer, and a junior high and high school math teacher. She has been a hospital chaplain at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas and has been involved in Kairos Prison Ministry. Nan is a Cursillista, a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King, and a member of the Order of St. Luke. She has also been a member of the task force for Criminal Justice in the Diocese of Texas.
Nan is married to Sam Doerr. They have two grown children, both married, one grandson and one granddaughter.
